These terms apply when you order food from Golden Oriental for collection or delivery. They’re written to be clear and fair. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us
Golden Oriental is a Chinese, Malaysian and Thai takeaway at 146 Gloucester Rd N, Filton, Bristol BS34 7BQ. You can reach us on 0117 969 68 88 or at [email protected].
2. Placing an order
- You can order by phone during our opening hours. We read your order back to you; please check it carefully, including any special requests.
- Your order is accepted, and a contract between us is made, when we confirm it and tell you the total price and an estimated time for collection or delivery.
- We may decline an order, for example if we’re about to close, a dish isn’t available, or your address is outside our delivery area. If we do, you won’t be charged.
- Ordering by menu number helps us get it right. Numbers are shown next to each dish on our menu.
- If you want to change or cancel an order, call us as soon as possible. Once we’ve started cooking we may not be able to change it, and you may still have to pay for food already prepared.
3. Prices and the menu
- Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. The price you pay is the one we confirm when you order.
- We update this website regularly, but prices, dishes and opening times can change. If the price on the website is different from the one we quote, we’ll tell you before you confirm your order.
- Unless a dish says otherwise, dishes don’t include rice or chips.
- Photos are for illustration; dishes are freshly made and may look a little different.
4. Allergies and dietary needs
- Please tell us about any food allergy or intolerance every time you order, before we confirm it. We’ll tell you which of the 14 major allergens (such as peanuts, nuts, sesame, soya, gluten, egg, milk, fish, crustaceans and molluscs) are in each dish.
- The Spicy, Contains Nuts and Vegetarian labels on our menu are a guide only and aren’t a full allergen list.
- Our kitchen handles all of these allergens, and dishes are cooked in shared woks, fryers and oil. We take great care, but we can’t guarantee any dish is completely free from any allergen.
- “Vegetarian” means the dish doesn’t contain meat or fish as an ingredient. Some sauces may contain oyster sauce, fish sauce or shrimp paste; please ask if you need to avoid these.
5. Collection
- Collect your order from 146 Gloucester Rd N, Filton, Bristol BS34 7BQ at the time we give you. Collection times are estimates and can be longer at busy times.
- Please check your order before you leave. Food is best eaten straight away; if you keep it for later, cool it quickly, refrigerate it and reheat it until piping hot.
6. Delivery
- We deliver up to 2 miles from the shop. The minimum order for delivery is £15.00.
- Delivery charges: £2.50 within 1 mile, £3.50 between 1 and 2 miles. We’ll confirm the charge when you order.
- Delivery times are estimates. Weather, traffic and busy periods can cause delays; we’ll do our best to let you know if your order is running late.
- Please make sure we have your full address and a phone number we can reach you on. If we can’t deliver because nobody is available, we’ll try to call you. If we still can’t deliver, we may not be able to give a refund for food that has been prepared.
- Our drivers may decline to hand over an order if they feel unsafe.
7. Payment
- We accept cash and card. Payment is due on collection or delivery unless we agree otherwise when you order.
- If paying by cash for a delivery, it helps if you have the right money ready.
8. If something isn’t right
- If anything is missing, incorrect or not up to standard, please call us as soon as possible, ideally within an hour of collection or delivery, and keep the food so we can look into it.
- Where we’ve made a mistake, we’ll put it right, usually by replacing the dish, giving you a credit on your next order, or refunding what you paid for it.
- Because food is made to order and perishable, the 14-day cancellation right that applies to some purchases doesn’t apply to food orders. Your other legal rights still do: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, food must be as described, of satisfactory quality and prepared with reasonable care and skill.
- If you’re not happy with how we’ve dealt with a complaint, you can get free advice from Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133 or at citizensadvice.org.uk.
9. The legal bits
- We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, or for business losses.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather or a power cut.
- How we use your personal information is explained in our privacy notice.
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
